The Plano East track and field team made the trek last week to Marauder Stadium for the District 6-6A Championships.
While some runners qualified for the area meet and some came out as individual district champions, the Plano East track and field teams each finished fourth overall. The girls track team finished fourth overall with 64 points, a good distance behind Hebron (100 points), Coppell (123 points) and district winner Flower Mound (148 points).
The boys team finished with 72 points overall, finishing behind Flower Mound (95 points), Hebron (120 points) and district winner Marcus (173.5 points).
Starring for the Panthers on the girls team was Tiriah Kelley, who finished first overall in the girls 100 and 200-meter dashes for the Lady Panthers. Her time in the 100-meter (11.81) won by a fair margin, while she was a second ahead of the next runner in the 200-meter (24.83).
She was the only qualifier in either event for Plano East, while Ismail Mahdi finished second overall in the boys 100-meter dash (10.90). The run was his personal record in the event, finishing .19 seconds behind the winner out of Marcus High School.
