The nasty weather of last week couldn’t slow down the momentum of the Plano East girls basketball team.
After coasting their way to a win over Prosper in the bi-district championship round, the Lady Panthers, ranked as high as No. 6 by The Dallas Morning News, had to wait over a week for their next contest, where they were able to knock off MacArthur in the area championship.
Once again, Plano East’s defensive intensity and interior size proved too much for their opponents, as the Lady Panthers dispatched the Lady Cardinals 64-44 last Saturday.
Plano East jumped out to an early lead against MacArthur, who was one of the better offenses in the area all season. After gaining an early 10-point lead in the first quarter, the game was relatively even throughout the remainder of the game, but the Lady Cardinals didn’t get a chance to make up any ground as the Lady Panthers dominated inside.
