State reports eight COVID deaths and 435 new cases in Collin County today, Friday

The Texas Department of State Health Services released updated COVID-19 information for today, January 8.
All counts, except for hospitalized cases, are compiled from the TDSHS website.
State officials listed
eight deaths and
435 new cases of COVID-19 in Collin County and are reporting a total of
48,923 confirmed cases to date.
Today, the state is also reporting
6,047 active cases and a total of
42,876 have recovered in Collin County.
Through today,
405 have died from COVID-19 related illness in the county.
Collin County officials reported that
560 are hospitalized with COVID-19, an
increase of
nine since yesterday.
An
increase of
137 hospitalizations throughout the state were reported at
13,921 of which
4,172 cases were reported hospitalized in North Texas,
114 more than yesterday.
