Andrew Chase likes what the city of Murphy has to offer but would like to see some improvements that would enhance the city’s allure.
One of those improvements would be a new library, because he finds the current one inadequate.
Chase, 74, joined council in November after being elected to Place 3 on Nov. 3. He previously ran for the Place 6 position in 2018 but lost.
Born and reared in Plano, Chase attended Jesuit High School in Dallas and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Texas and then taught social studies for 32 years in Plano ISD – doing stints a both Shepton and Williams high schools – teaching mainly government and world history before working eight years as a substitute teacher. He has lived in Murphy since 1972.
