17,242 counted on WISD first day

First day attendance in Wylie schools last week, Aug. 13, show an increase of 480 in student population with a to­tal of 17,242 counted present in person or remotely.

The total for the first day of classes last year was 16,762 students. The official count of WISD enrollment will be made in October.

Students were given the choice to attend class in per­son or remotely because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Wylie Independent School District numbers show 8,995 students chose to return to campuses and 8,250 opt for remote learning via computer.
