Who’s behind center in 2020?

As high schools around the country gear up for the start of the 2020 season, there’s only one thing on their minds: have a better season than the last. For some, that means winning more games than the team did the previous year. For others, that means a deep playoff run. All of this starts with the most important position on the field, the quarterback. But how do we know what our local QBs will do this upcoming season? Let’s do a little preview.

Plano East:

2019 Season: 1-6 in District 6-6A, 1-9 overall. Win over McKinney Boyd. Playoffs: DNQ

Senior Dylan Hayden will be calling the plays for the Panthers in 2020. Hayden came from high school in Wyoming to Plano East so don’t let 2019 be telltale for this football team. Before Hayden’s arrival in 2019, East led the area in passing, went 8-3 and sent 15 players to college on scholarship in 2018. Head Coach Joey McCullough says Hayden is a leader, the hardest worker on the team and tough as nails. Once Hayden learns the offense with a young team, East could have a breakout season in 2020.
