The Murphy City Council voted Tuesday to accept Chris George’s resignation from the council and then voted to replace him with Rob Thomas, who then was asked to cast a tie-breaking vote to select a deputy mayor pro tem immediately after taking his oath of office.
Thomas joins the council on Place 3, the seat that George resigned effective at the end of the council meeting. George wrote in his resignation letter: “I sincerely thank everyone on Council and City Staff for supporting me during my term and I wish the absolute best for the City going forward.”
