The Winans sisters, Libby (in foreground) and Meagan, are golfing in the Texas Women’s Open this week.

Three top women’s golfers from the Wylie area teed off this week in the Texas Women’s Open at Old American Golf Club in The Colony.

In the hunt are Maddie McCreary of Wylie, who plays professionally on the Symetra Tour, University of Oklahoma golfer Libby Winans of Richardson and sister Meagan Winans, a member of the Plano East High School golf team.

McCreary, who attended Oklahoma State University before turning pro, won the Open in 2015 as an amateur.

Last year Meagan Winans finished third in the tourney and Libby Winans tied for fourth.

The tourney started Tuesday and runs through Thursday. Because of the COVID-19 health crisis, spectators were not allowed to attend the competition.
