Taylor honors six local students

by | Feb 27, 2020 | Education

Six students joined 32 of their peers in being honored by U.S. Rep. Van Taylor, District 3.

Taylor nominated Chandler Pham of Murphy (International Leadership of Texas), Emily Shaw of Murphy (Booker T. Washington High), Alexis Bradstreet of Richardson (Plano East Senior High), Ethan Hesson of Lucas (Wylie High), Austin Hoang of Richardson (Plano East Senior High) and Orion Rolater of Plano (Plano East Senior High) for the United States Service Academies.

If selected, the nominees will earn a four-year university education, room and board, medical and dental coverage and a stipend in exchange for a five-year military service commitment after graduating.

Alexis, Ethan, Austin and Orion were nominated for U.S. Military Academy, and Chandler and Emily were nominated for U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

“Nothing gives me more pride than seeing young Americans stand up to serve their country,” Taylor said. “These selfless men and women are sure to have an incredible impact on their communities and their entire nation, and I am honored to represent them in Congress.”
