Election draws trio of candidates for Place 3

A handful of contests developed as filings closed last week for the May 2 area city and school district elections.

The candidate filing period ran from Jan. 15 through Feb. 14.

A race for Place 3 on the Murphy City Council developed last week with former member Betty Spraggins, Laurel Clement and Andrew Chase signing up for the Place 3 seat currently held by Chris George, who is not seeking re-election.
