Burglaries, false alarms rise
A shortage of police officers continued to be a challenge for the Murphy Police Department in 2019.
As a result, the number of calls for service decreased from 33,042 in 2018 to 28,690 in 2019, a fact that Murphy Police Chief Trey Cotten attributes to the officer shortage, along with an increase in officer response time; 1.59 minutes in 2018; 2.04 in 2019.
