A former city council member, Don Reilly, took the current Murphy City Council to task last week for failing to honor a pay plan for police and fire personnel adopted in 2016 to bring their salaries up to levels comparable to other officers in the area.
The comments were made during a public hearing Tuesday, Sept. 3, on the 2019-20 city budget. A second public hearing was slated for Tuesday, Sept. 10, and the budget is scheduled to be adopted Sept. 17.
