Bright strip lighting used in some businesses to outline windows as a means of drawing attention to a location is no longer allowed by Murphy City Council as a result of action taken last week.
The council met in regular session Tuesday, July 17. Other business discussed included site plans presented for three business locations and a request to allow back-to-back fencing at a residential location.
Citing aesthetics and potential dangerous glare, the council tightened up an ordinance dealing with the use of LED strip lighting to ban its use to highlight retail business windows.
