Strip window lighting banned

Bright strip lighting used in some businesses to outline win­dows as a means of drawing at­tention to a location is no longer allowed by Murphy City Coun­cil as a result of action taken last week.

The council met in regular session Tuesday, July 17. Other business discussed included site plans presented for three busi­ness locations and a request to allow back-to-back fencing at a residential location.

Citing aesthetics and poten­tial dangerous glare, the council tightened up an ordinance deal­ing with the use of LED strip lighting to ban its use to high­light retail business windows.
