One of the only knowns when Plano Independent School District trustees meet Tuesday, June 25, to adopt a new budget is that the property tax rate will decrease by a little more than a dime.
Trustees meet at 7 p.m. for a public hearing and adoption of the fiscal year 2019-20 budget. The meeting is at the PISD administrative building, 2700 W. 15th Street in Plano.
Chief Financial Officer Randy McDowell reported that the school board will be presented a budget using school financing formulas for last year and will amend those numbers in August to get an accurate document.
McDowell explained that because the Texas Legislature changed school financing laws so late in the 2019 session, there has not been enough time to make all the new calculations needed to complete the budget. He also noted that some of the formulas provided by the state do not work.
