Lunch programs provide regular meals

by | Jun 13, 2019 | Latest

While the majority of students celebrate the start of summer break, a growing portion of their peers finds these months especially challenging. When the school year ends, so does their opportunity to have regular meals.

However, several community groups are working to make sure no child goes hungry.

Plano ISD offers free meals to everyone aged 18 and under throughout most of the summer. Adults can also purchase breakfast for $2.25 and lunch for $3.75.

Locations include: Meadows Elementary (11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. through July 26, closed July 4 and 5), Forman Elementary (8 to 8:30 a.m. and 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. through June 26), Mendenhall Elementary (8 to 8:30 a.m. and 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. through June 26), Sigler Elementary (8 to 8:30 a.m. and 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. through June 26), Rasor Elementary (7:45 to 8:15 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 3-21 and July 15 to Aug. 2), Christie Elementary (7:30 to 8 a.m. through June 26) and Carpenter Middle School (7:30 to 8 a.m. through June 26).
