The valedictorian and salutatorian at Wylie High School gave commencement speeches that centered on the same theme, that success in the future requires sacrifices on the part of their classmates.
WHS graduation ceremonies for 592 senior students were held Saturday, May 25 at Allen Event Center.
By finishing their high school years in the top two academic spots, valedictorian Aidan Gardiner and salutatorian Troy Sargent were provided the opportunity to address the Class of 2019, offering thanks, reminiscences and challenges.
“Those of you who have had the unfortunate privilege of getting to know me over these four years will know that I am not an emotionally expressive person, but I do get an opportunity to depart from my robotic nature through choir,” Gardiner said to preface his theme.
