Journalism students at Plano East Senior High got a gold crown and more for their efforts this year.
Newspaper staff won the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Crown Award in the hybrid news category, and the Dallas Morning News High School Journalism Best Newspaper Award.
Yearbook staff took home the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Silver Crown Award in the hybrid yearbook category.
“For yearbook, we were specifically noted for design and photography,” said journalism teacher Abby Cole. “I think the individual talents of the students allowed the yearbook to really push the bar in these areas. The combination of visual storytelling strengths allowed for really amazing and inspiring work. For newspaper, it was the localized storytelling as well as the copy editing.”
