Kucauskas run May 5

by | May 2, 2019 | Latest

Three events, the Murphy Half Marathon along with 5K and 10K races, are set for running Sunday, May 5 to benefit the Police Sgt. Kyle Kucauskas Educational Foundation.

Start and finish for all three races is inside Tom Kimbrough Stadium, 700 N. Murphy Road. Registration and packet pickup starts at 6 a.m., the 5K starts at 7 a.m. and both the 10K and half marathon begin at 7:10 a.m. There is a 4-hour time limit for the half marathon.

Kucauskas was a sergeant with Murphy Police Department, serving from 2001 until his untimely death in 2013. A 10K race in his honor was started in 2014, added to a 5K Maize Days race. The event was suspended for a year but has returned with a larger format and proceeds set exclusively for the Kucauskas Foundation.

The foundation provides educational assistance to students pursuing careers in the fields of law enforcement and criminal justice.
