Murphy City Council just said yes last week in approving a subdivision plat, new business locations and designs for a park and roadway median landscaping.
The council, however, delayed a decision on whether to designate city ponds as catch and release fishing that would remove the ponds from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department regulations.
First approval, given after a public hearing, was to change zoning at 610 E. FM 544 from single family residential to planned development to allow the construction of a facility for Service First Automotive Center.
The 2.95-acre property is on the west side of E. FM 544 between McCreary Road and N. Maxwell Creek Road and contains a residence at the back of the tract. First Service proposes building a 10,250 square foot, brick and stone automotive center, and will allow the resident of the house to remain there as long as he is able.
