Murphy City Council last week approved a $1.75 million contract for street panel replacement and drainage improvements in Travis Estates and a contract to provide more financial oversight for construction projects funded by bonds.
The council met in regular session Tuesday, March 5, at City Hall.
The meeting started with recognition of the winners in the sixth annual Recycle Truck Art Contest. Students in kindergarten through tenth grade designed posters to encourage recycling. Posters from the top entries are reproduced on Republic trash trucks serving Murphy and on trash recycling bins throughout town.
Nine bids were received for the Travis Estates project, a part of capital improvement projects funded by general obligation bonds approved by taxpayers. Travis Civil Construction submitted the low bid and was selected for the project.
