The application period for scholarships awarded through Murphy Chamber of Commerce will open in February and remain open for two months, with awards announced in spring.
Murphy Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Foundation board members met earlier this week to fine-tune details for the awards.
This is the 13th year that the foundation has presented scholarships to deserving high school senior students. Eligible students must live in Murphy, attend Wylie or Plano ISD schools, or be homeschooled.
The scholarship program started in 2006 and has made more than $70,000 in awards. Winners are chosen on the basis of an impartial scoring system with no more than three students from either of the school districts, private or home schools winning the scholarships.
