National Night Out, an annual campaign promoting police-community partnerships, will be celebrated at several Murphy neighborhood parties Tuesday, Oct. 2.
The parties bring neighborhoods closer together and give citizens an opportunity to get to know their police officers in a more social setting. Murphy police will be making the rounds of the gatherings to meet residents.
Cub Scout Pack 1783 is hosting a NNO party from 6-8 p.m. at Tibbals Elementary School, 621 Waters Edge Way.
Three homeowner’s associations are also hosting parties, Maxwell Creek from 6-8:30 p.m. at 200 N. McCreary Road, Murphy Farms from 6-9 p.m. in the 100 block of Green Acres and The Ranch from 6-8 p.m. at 501 Gene Autry Drive.
Millions of neighbors take part in NNO activities across the country the first Tuesday in August, but the event is celebrated on the first Tuesday of October in Texas to avoid the worst of the summer heat.
