Programs kick off campaigns this week

The start of the 2018 football season is a few days away.

Wylie East, Sachse and Community will be on the road, and Wylie, Plano East and Wylie Preparatory Academy are at home.

Plano East

The senior-laden Panthers open with visiting L.D. Bell at 7:30 p.m. at Tom Kimbrough Stadium in Murphy.

The field is located at 700 N. Murphy Rd.

Head coach Mike Glaze leads the Blue Raiders. The coach returns 18 lettermen, with six starters back on offense and eight defensively.

L.D. Bell is a member of 3-6A.

Zion Hardy, Steve Ayisire, Mason Ornelas, Joel Kayoka, Christian Gadison, Josh Vakapuna, Connor Mullins, Bobby Young, Q’quarin Ellzey, Dawson Holley, Drew Fergusan, Beni Kabongo and Wesley Kraft are players to watch.

The Blue Raiders went 1-9 overall and 0-7 one season ago.
