Murphy City Council met last week to fine-tune the fiscal year 2018-‘19 budget that closely mirrors the budget for the current fiscal year.
The council met for a budget workshop Tuesday, July 10.
“It is a pretty straightforward budget,” Finance Director Karen Montgomery said. “Departments have really been managing their budgets.”
Because department heads managed their expenses this year, the city expects to wind up FY 2017-18 with $528,639 more in the general fund balance than was anticipated. Revenues were up a little and expenses should come in $464,453 less than was budgeted.
