All Plano East needed to do was win the last two games and they’d qualify for the Class 6A softball playoffs.

They were unable to get the job done as they fell 16-13 in extra innings to Allen and 11-4 on the road to rival Plano in District 6-6A.

“I was very disappointed in our losses,” PESH head coach Cindy Mosteller said.

Plano East jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings, scoring four runs in the second and one in the third against Allen.

Allen answered in the top of the fourth with two runs and Plano East countered with two.

Both teams scored a pair of runs in the fifth.

Trailing 9-4, Allen put up four runs in the fourth and five more in the top of the seventh for a 13-9 lead.

Plano East came back with four runs in the bottom half for a 13-13 tie after seven full innings.

Allen pulled out the win on the heels of a three-run top of the eighth. They ended up with 17 hits and six errors.
