Cost and aesthetics figured into a decision by Murphy City Council to continue with high pressure sodium streetlights instead of LED bulbs in the area of town served by Oncor.
The council met Tuesday, April 3, in regular session to consider streetlight bulb replacement, approval an additional grant to Murphy Historical Society, approve a final plat for a medical building and buy a generator for Murphy Community Center.
City Manager Mike Castro presented the proposal by Oncor to start replacing sodium bulbs in streetlights with LED bulbs as existing sodium bulbs burn out.
