Plano East head coach Lena Harrington is very confident about her team’s chance at this week’s District 7-6A swimming and diving meet.
“After the year as a whole, we looked better than we’ve looked since I have been at Plano East,” the third-year coach said. “The boys are really strong. Our sprinting has improved immensely, and that has helped our relays a lot.”
East finished the regular season Jan. 10 in a dual meet at Allen, where the boys deadlocked the Eagles 85-85, while the Lady Panthers dropped a 103-65 decision. The individual goal for each swimmer this week is to earn a top-six finish, which will propel them to the regional meet. The district diving competition is today at McKinney High School, with the swimming portion scheduled for Friday at Allen.
The top-two finishers in each category at regionals will earn a spot at the state meet.
