East tees off on BN 4-1; faces SLC on Friday

FLOWER MOUND — The Panthers needed a superlative effort last Friday against the District 5-6A champion and state-ranked Byron Nelson Bobcats at Flower Mound High School.
Well, they delivered one, and in the process East pulled off a 4-1 first-round upset to set up a Class 6A, Region I area-round date with Southlake Carroll at the same location 6 p.m. this Friday.
“The boys came out ready to play tonight, and it was nice to see,” head coach Rick Woodard said. “In the first five or six minute you could tell that we were feeling them out, because it was slow. Once we realized what they were going to do, the boys adjusted and adjusted very well.”
