In a special called session last week, Murphy City Council members accepted the resignation of City Manager James Fisher and authorized a search for a permanent replacement.
Named to serve as interim City Manager is Mark Lee, the city’s Fire Chief.
The council went into executive session at the Monday, Feb. 29, meeting for a single agenda item: “Deliberation regarding the appointment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline or dismissal of the City Manager.”
After almost 90 minutes behind closed door, the council reconvened into open session and voted unanimously on three motions, to accept Fisher’s resignation, appoint Lee as interim city manager and authorize Mayor Eric Barna to begin a search for a new city manager.
Fisher had served in the city manager post since March 31, 2008, and received an annual salary of $156,814.
