Young anglers will have a chance to test their skills in the third annual Rainbow Trout Roundup.
The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 at the pond located in front of the Murphy Municipal Complex, located at 206 N. Murphy Rd.
Participants must bring their own fishing pole, with bait and supplies. Each participant is limited to five fish, which can be taken home.
This year’s format will feature scheduled times for each age group.
Those over the age of 17 aren’t allowed to fish during the event.
Special Events Coordinator Kayla McFarland explained the change.
“We decided to separate the times so the younger kids could enjoy the fishing experience,” said McFarland.
“By splitting up the age groups it cuts down on crowding around the lake. We feel that it’s going to make it a better experience for all involved in the long run.”
