ALLEN — The season is not yet over for several Plano East wrestlers.
That mix of boys and girls will be at the Berry Center today through Saturday for the UIL state meet; they qualified by finishing in the top four within their weight class during last weekend’s regional meet at Allen High School.
Representing the Panthers will be Nathan Rankin, who took first at 106 pounds with an 11-4 victory over Allen’s Noah Yeamans. Rankin defeated him a week earlier to capture the district crown.
Also heading south are Tyson Smith, fourth at 145 pounds, and Dane Cordell, second in the heavyweight division. On the girls’ side, Monica Chafik took second at 95 pounds, while Monica Soltero was fourth at 148 and Alaria Ruttenberg was fourth at 215 after winning a challenge match. Jade Hill, at 165, will be an alternate.
