A pair of newcomers have declared their intentions to run for places on the Murphy City Council.

The Murphy Monitor took a moment to connect with each candidate on various topics.

Jennifer Berthiaume

Berthiaume is running for Place 2, which is currently held by Ben St. Clair.

“There is no greater honor than holding a public office and, like councilmembers before me, I want to continue the proud tradition of protecting our investments and keeping Murphy as a top-ranked suburb in the DFW Metroplex,” she said.

Although this is her first time running for public office, the Murphy resident has experience in handling budgets and all that comes with city politics.

She is a member of the Murphy Community Development Board and was a driving force behind the implementation of the Community Grant program.

Berthiaume is also a member of the Community Emergency Response Team, which trains residents to assist the Murphy Fire- Rescue department in recognizing and responding to major emergencies and natural disasters that affect the community.

Berthiaume has over 10 years of experience as a Geographic Information Systems analysts and consultant for municipalities, utilities and state Departments of Transportation.
