This past year was a big one for Emma Guillen, of Emma Ann’s Gifts.

The Boggess Elementary fourth-grader raised a total of $14,278.99 for charity.

“It is pretty awesome and amazing that I was able to raise that much money,” Emma said. “It makes me feel very special that I’m able to help out so many people.”

The 10-year-old raised funds for Emily’s Place ($1,525.19), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital ($1,238.80), Murphy Police Department ($1,800), American Heart Association ($1,715) and Toys for Tots ($7,500).

“It makes me very proud as a mom. I’m very proud to have a daughter with such a giving heart,” Dorothy Guillen said. “I was taught as a kid to give back and I’ve always instilled that in my kids. I would say that she’s on the right track.”

Last month, Emma along with help from others, collected 1,076 toys, which was more than double the 2014 donation for Toys for Tots.

“It is a pretty big difference and is really cool to know that we were able to collect that many toys,” Emma said.
