The construction of new businesses was a key topic of discussion during the Sept. 1 Murphy City Council meeting.
The council approved the site plan, landscape plan, building elevations and a construction plat for a Denny’s restaurant and a retail space under property owner McBirney 544 Joint Venture.
“I think it is a great thing. I have received a couple of emails with concerns about fast food restaurants, but I don’t consider Denny’s a fast food restaurant,” Deputy Mayor pro tem Owais Siddiqui said. “To me this a family restaurant and is kind of fast casual. I think it is a win for the city.”
