Murphy Fire Rescue member Genero Ocanas prepares to climb 110 flights of stairs at last year’s annual Dallas 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. Ocanas climbed for Firefighter James Coyle, an FDNY member on Ladder 3 that was killed at the World Trade Center during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack.
With the Labor Day weekend also comes a time to remember the fallen in the Dallas 9/11 Stair Climb.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 5 at the Renaissance Tower in downtown Dallas.
Fulfilling a promise to never forget their brothers and sisters who have died in the line of duty, 343 firefighters, 70 law enforcement officers and 9 EMTs will climb 110 floors.
